PL: Dude, in fairness, I've been writing a book and working two different jobs. And as you know, a lot of people here have been working on other projects.

And in fairness as well, it's pretty ridiculous to demand free content. But the reality is, for good or for ill, that I used to read more of the sites on here. I think this is the only one I still check regularly, which, believe me, I appreciate. A lot of the guys I like (Trichter, Greene, Tucker, etc.) seemed to have moved on.

C'est la vie, I guess.

Greene's writing a book, so you have to give him some time. And Tucker just did a movie, so in fairness, you can't fault him for being underwater.

But I think you understand, this is hard to do. I try to keep the quality up and it's very difficult to pump the stuff out and keep your life together. It's like writing a book non-stop. While writing a book. And working. I think I lost my mind about four or five months ago. I literally can't remember some of what I wrote just a few weeks ago because of the relentless speed of this medium. And I think there's an important point here... Sites like Rudius or Cracked or College Humor or The Onion provide content. Sometimes great, sometimes less than great but always solid content. It'd be easy to shift the focus and turn into reactive snark merchants. There's nothing wrong with that. I like short, mean, funny, critical material as much as the next guy. But I also think the net's got a capacity for better. That people can start putting up extended, quality material that challenges the notion espoused in last month's Atlantic - that the internet is destroying our attention spans. I think this medium can provide deep, creative, funny work. But it takes time. And let's face it... The net's not much for monetizing content. Right now, most people putting it out need to work on other projects to pay the mortgage. I understand wanting to have the material as soon as practicable, but maybe it's best to think of the more in-depth writers you read online like TV shows. That every now and again there'll be a hiatus and when the site starts back again it will live up the high quality it provided before.

No use in giving quantity at loss of quality.

Frankly, after a piece I'm putting up this week, I'm going to shift to shorter, commentary based pieces for a while and straight comedy. I'm not sure I have much more of the cynicism for law in me anymore. I think I've coughed all I had of it out of me. For my mental health, it's time to shift gears. And I can do that.
